Viktor ‘Isildur1′ Blom became $500,000 richer last Monday night. Having previously lost two 2,500-hand matches against Isaac ‘philivey2694′ Haxton, this past weekend Blom and his adversary opted to play a different type of Showdown match, this time putting $500,000 each on the line, ramping the stakes up to $200/$400 NL Hold’em across four tables, and playing until one man had all the money. The only condition was that each session would last four hours, so that they would come back day after day until the match was complete.
In the end it took just under three sessions for Blom to emerge the victor, taking the last of his opponent’s stake last night after a total of 5,030 hands. It never really looked in doubt, with Isildur1 dominating throughout. He led by $198,438 on Day 1, by $281,365 after Day2, and the Swede finished off his opponent towards the end of Day 3.
