PokerStars Threatens Legal Action Against PTR

16/04/2012 21:07

A few years back, PokerStars had announced that they were going to start cracking down on data-mining sites, stating that they were compromising the integrity of the game. Most of the major sites changed their methods to assure compliance with PokerStars stance, but PokerTablingRatings.com was one such company that refused to change their business model.

Although the operators of PTR.com took extreme measures to hide their identities, PokerStar’s Head of Home Games, Lee Jones states that “we are on their trail now and will keep at it. We’ll keep you informed as we make progress.”

So far, PokerStars has issued a Cease and Desist notice with plans to follow up with a full team of lawyers if PTR.com decides to ignore their warnings. They also claim infringement of intellectual property rights and breaching the terms and conditions of their site. PTR currently tracks individual stats of all players on PokerStars and then packages up bundles of hand histories for sale. They also provide statistical analysis of any player with graphs showing a lifetime history of their progress.
